YOUR INVITATION TO OUR CAROL CONCERT

St. Michael's annual Carol Concert takes place this year in Holy Rosary Church on Monday, 10th December. Jonathan Hague, Louise Fell, Andrew Coyle, Danielle Chaffey, Jenny

Kilcourse and Katy Chipchase will be among those who present and lead traditional carols and perform some of their own pieces of music.

For others, including Sarah Napoleon, Kate Wharry, Joanne Bowden and Tim Foley, it will be their first Carol Concert as St. Michael's pupils.

Our festive musical evening starts at 7 p.m. and families, friends of the school and parishioners are warmly invited to attend.

WOODLAND PARK VISITS

Jamie Keenan and Niall Lyons are among the pupils who have visited Cowpen Bewley

Woodland Park this term. In fact, during October, every Year 7 class made a visit, the theme being ‘Why a woodland park?’ Pupils were made aware of the variety of wildlife, both plant and animal, that the Park supports - as well as learning about the role of the Warden, Martin Lunn, and his team in managing it.

(See page 2 for news about our own Year 7 tree planting project.)

QUESTION OF CHEMISTRY

St. Michael’s team, comprising Isabel Foley, Alex Scholes, Shaun Robinson and Rebecca

Halas, came up with the right formula in the Royal Society of Chemistry Quiz, when they won their district competition. Then, in the area semi-finals, they finished a very creditable third to Bydales and Teesside High and Mrs. Richardson was really pleased with their performance.

CITIZENSHIP TO THE FORE

Emma Lavery, Philip Swash and Sam Bermingham are among the 56 pupils who have received Student Council training in communication skills and

citizenship duties. Billingham’s Regeneration Officer, Barbara Campbell came into school to explain the role young people have in the wider community.

COUNTY CRICKET TRIALS

Congratulations to Paris Guillot and John Watson, who play for Norton Cricket Club and were both

invited for trials with Yorkshire County Cricket Club. They are now awaiting news of how they have done. Former St. Michael's student, Marc Symington,

became the first from our school to play cricket to county level when he played for Durham. Marc also played for Norton.

WARHAMMER CLUB

This club is held every Wednesday at 3.10 in Mrs Thomas’s room, with Anthony Shears and John Strange as group leaders. They hold battles,

modelling and painting sessions. All are welcome!
