After last year’s musical,
Mrs. Parnell said never again. She has said it before and I’m sure she’ll
say it again. However, in a fashion that has almost become a yearly
tradition, Mr. McMurray and Mrs. Parnell have begun work on yet another
production – ‘Aladdin’ – which will undoubtedly be as spectacular
as its predecessors, which include ‘My Fair Lady’ and ‘Cinderella’.
Pupils from all Year Groups auditioned and, finally, it was decided that Jessica Davies should play Aladdin, Kelly Naisbitt the princess and Miss Clarke the ‘baddie’, Mustapha Leekie! Those taking on other main roles include Jon-Paul Rowden, Chris Duffy, Katy Lee, Louise Fell, Peter Wilson, Tim Foley, Sophie Wing, Liam Geoghegan and Joseph Kreczak. We await the final product with baited breath. Roll on January! (Thanks to our Year 8 special reporter for this article.) |

YOUTH FOR JUSTICE Last month, a group of Year 9 pupils, including Katie Devitt, Stephen Percival, Carla Walker and Gareth Dent, attended a Conference for Youth Day in Egglescliffe. Justice was a main theme and workshops including those centred upon issues such as drugs and racism. Others involved were Ashley Wilson, Alison Blane, Sophie Wing, Katie Rickard, Rizwan Naeem and Peter Bradford – and all agreed it had been a very good day. Thanks to Mrs. Davies for arranging the visit and to Alison Blane of 9E for her report. PAINTING ASDA’S WINDOWS FOR CHRISTMAS Lee Hutchinson, Jennifer Allen, Jessica Boyd and Naomi Douthwaite are among the Year 10 GCSE Art students bringing Christmas cheer to shoppers at Portack’s Asda Supermarket. Earlier this week, they decorated Asda’s eight main windows with images of Christmas designed within the school. Others who gave up their time to paint and worked extremely hard are Joseph Graham, Iain Keay, Michelle Leyden, Andrew Masterman, Cait McShane and Rebecca Teasdale. |
ROOTING FOR
NATIONAL TREE WEEK
To mark National Tree Week, members of our new Year 7, including Lauren Bermingham, James Donovan, Rebecca Leighton and Natalie Ditchburn, are all set to plant a tree in the school’s Memorial Garden at 10.45 a.m. on Friday, 23rd November. Mrs. Colclough has arranged for two Year 7 science classes, plus representatives from other Y7 classes, to participate. The warden from Cowpen Bewley Woodland Park will be providing the stake and a spade!
