GOOD LUCK FOR THE FUTURE St. Michael’s bids farewell to Miss Watson and Miss Langworth this week. Miss Watson joined us more than a decade ago and she has been a familiar figure in the science department and, with her great sense of humour, somebody who has always got involved on days such as our Charity FUNdraising Days! As pupils who have attended her after-school activities and revision classes know, she has worked very hard to provide St. Michael’s pupils with educational opportunities.Miss Langworth has taught in St. Michael’s for the last years, again within the science department, and her work too has been very valuable. In recent times, she has worked hard to help establish the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme in St. Michael’s. We thank both teachers for all they have done and we wish them well in their new posts. |

SPIRITUAL PREPARATION FOR WORK EXPERIENCE For the recent Year 10 Mass, the theme was ‘Work’ and it was part of the students preparations for work experience. About 50 pupils took part in the liturgy, drama, music, readers and offertory, with Father Butters as celebrant. During the Mass, a group of students presented the new Year 10 Banner, created at a workshop led by Angeline of the Youth Mission Team. Their Banner relates to the Gospel from the Mass and it is now displayed in the front entrance of the school. Year 10’s example has inspired the Chaplaincy Team to look at the possibility of making appropriate Banners for each Year Group Mass. |

OUR YEAR 9 TECHNOLOGY TEAM IS FIRING AWAY IN THE SAFETY COMPETITION
Mr. Dunning has ignited the spark by giving a group of Year 9 pupils the chance
to participate in the annual British Steel-Fire Service Safety Competition. He
says the experience should hold no alarms for Louise Fell, Philip Munt, Robert
Wright, Katy Lee and others - and the safety conscious students are aiming to
win cash prizes to enhance ICT provision within the Design and Technology
Department.
