Settlement - duration 7/8 weeks

General aim: To introduce pupils to the idea of settlement and the factors that determine the location and growth of settlements. The advantages and disadvantages of growth. Land use patterns and change over time.

ICT: Use of mapping websites to compare and contrast settlements. Use of free OS map to compare local settlement patterns. Use of estate agent web sites to tackle 'Extra@ questions on p. 63.
