During the summer holidays you should have completed your data collection.
This involved you
- Visiting each sample point
- Conducting your various
surveys
o Noise
o Pedestrian count
o Traffic count
o Environmental index survey
o Questionnaire
- You should have taken a photo of each sample point.
- You should
have collected details of house prices. This can be from estate
agents, the Evening Gazette (Thursday)
or the internet. You should try and find at least 5 houses for sale in each
area. Remember
they do not have to be at the sample point,
as long as they
are in your area.
WHAT NEXT
You now need to start to write up the chapters on the sample points.
You have two separate chapters – one on the INNER CITY and one
on the SUBURBS. Each chapter begins with a short introduction to the
area – see the coursework handbook for an example to use. You
should also include a map in each chapter with the sample points marked
on it.
You then have a section on each sample point. This should include:
- A photo labelled
- A short write up (one paragraph) summarising
what you think of the area – good and bad points.
- A copy of
the environmental index sheet filled in with the total score.
- A copy
of the noise, traffic and pedestrian surveys filled in.
There is no need at this stage to include any graphs, house prices
or conclusions; you are simply DESCRIBING what you found on your visits
to the sample points.
