Using Excel to produce a graph

1. Go into Microsoft Excel and enter your climate data into a table. Put the months in the A column, rainfall (mm) in the B column and temperature (ºC) in the C column. |
2. Highlight all the data
and click on the chart wizard icon

3. The top left chart should be selected, this is a clustered column. Click next to go to step 2 of 4. Click next in step 2. In step 3 put a title, X label (month) and Y label (rainfall in mm). |
4. In step 4 of 4, change
the chart to be as a new sheet.

5. To change the
temperature to a line, click the right button when the cursor
is on a temperature bar.

6. Select the line graph
shown above.

7. To change the
line's colour and axis, click the right button on the temperature
line and select format data series.

8. Use the pattern menu to
change the temperature's appearance and then click on the Axis
tab.

9. Change the
series from the primary axis to the secondary axis (circled
in red above). This allows a temperature scale to appear on
the right axis.

10. Finally, click the right
button and go to chart options so that you can add the temperature
axis label (put it in the second value (Y) axis).
